CONVENTION INFORMATION
The following is a reprint from the TFRW President’s Newsletter as a reminder for all our members.
 
Senatorial/County Conventions - Held Saturday March 29, 2008
Delegates are those chosen at the Precinct Convention or by a letter of interest to County Chair.
Each Senatorial District/County will hold a convention depending on jurisdiction.
Some delegates will be asked to help organize this Convention and serve on Temporary Committees: Nominations, Resolutions, Rules, Organization, and Credentials. These meetings will precede the Convention.
 
Permanent committee members are elected by the whole body of the convention.
Delegates to attend the state convention will be selected by the Nominations Committee and then presented to the whole body of the Convention for a vote.
Resolutions will be selected by the Resolutions Committee and presented to the whole body for a vote.
Convention lasts one day.
 
State Republican Convention - June 12-14, 2008, Houston, Texas
Delegates are those elected by the SD/County Delegate Conventions.
The State Chairman shall appoint 2 Delegate from each Senatorial District to serve on Temporary Credentials, Rules, Organization, and Platform Committees.
Permanent committee members will be elected by the whole body of the convention.
The State Chairman will appoint a caucus chairman from each Senatorial District.
In Presidential election years, the State Chairman will appoint a caucus chairman from each Senatorial District.
Senatorial Districts will caucus the first day of convention to elect 1 man and 1 woman to serve on the State Republican Executive Committee.
Convention shall elect a State Chairman.
In Presidential Years, Congressional Districts will caucus the second day to elect 3 national delegates and 3 alternates to attend the National Convention.
A National Committeeman and National Committeewoman will be elected to represent Texas on the RNC.
Each Congressional caucus will elect an Elector and a person to serve on the Nominations Committee. (This committee will select delegates and alternates to attend the National Convention).
A state platform will be voted on by the whole body of the convention.
 
National Convention - September 1-4, 2008, Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN
Delegates that were elected at the State elect 1 man and 1 woman to serve on each of the temporary committee for the National Convention.
A National Platform is voted on.
A Presidential nominee is elected.
